August My Stylish French Box delivery...

A beautifully curated box of French items recently arrived on my doorstep.
My Stylish French Box is always a luxurious treat.
A wee bit of French chic to add to our home.

Beeswax candles ~ Apis - Cera
Salad servers ~ Sabre
Pottery oil jug ~ Digoin
Dijon mustard ~ Pommery
Vintage brooch ~ French Brocantes
Pretty tray ~ Au Bain Marie
Table runner ~ Charvet

I've opened the mustard it is yummy.
Lovely flavour in a homemade salad dressing.

Decanted some quality olive oil into the Digoin jug
placed the cork stopper inside...
it works well and is much nicer to use that the plastic olive oil bottle.

We eat a lot of salads here in The Humble Bungalow.
The servers will get used daily and they are so very pretty.

I look forward to using the candles.
I absolutely LOVE the fragrance of beeswax as it burns.

The wee tray is now in our guest room on the table,
The colours work exquisitely with our red
 Toile du Jouy bed linen.

Sharon and her team at My Stylish French Box are planning a festive holiday box for November.

My Stylish French Country box reveal!

What a treat to receive this beautiful My Stylish French Box.

Sharon Santoni and her team have outdone themselves yet again!
I don't know how they do it but I am very grateful that they put in the time and effort with this venture.

I want to share some of the beautiful items that were carefully wrapped up in whisper thin tissue and satin ribbons...

The theme for the May box was flowers.
I love those subtle soft shades of pink and grey.

Wee Espresso cups hand made by Sophie Masson
and the pretty Francoise Paviot napkins.

Rosa Damascena rose palettes by Carriere Freres
add scent to a closet or lingerie drawer.

A recycled wine bottle by Q' de Bouteilles
etched with "MFCH"
Will use this sweet vase for our wee garden bouquets.
I think it will be great in the green bathroom here in The Humble Bungalow.

Apica Exfoliant made with bee pollen...
I look forward to trying this gentle product to keep my skin glowing and healthy.

Look at this beautiful large floral silk scarf by Pertrusse!
It is so sumptuous!
I will wear this with my summer linen dresses...
and with my denim jacket and jeans.

I am a pearl girl and WOW check out these beautiful Gisel B earrings.

Love LOVE love the pearls...
my two favourite items in the box can be worn together!

I also have the pearl pendant from Gisel B
sent in a previous MSFB which will be lovely worn with these.

Such a luxurious assortment of treats to enjoy.

Shopping agenda ~ a cozy top

It's cold and drafty here in this old heritage home.
The Humble Bungalow has single paned windows which let the cool air inside
so I wear several layers to keep warm. It's been snowing for a few days and we have had the furnace going full blast!

My go to outfit for home days is a tee shirt worn under a cashmere sweater, pants or jeans and warm wool socks.

For my walks I wear a puffy down coat, hat, scarf, and gloves.
I look like the Michelin man...but at least I am warm.

Inside the change room at Marshall's.

On my shopping agenda:
Black Yoga pants and a cozy top.

Great long sleeves with a thumb hole to keep the hands warm.

A wrap style on fleece with an asymmetrical hem detail.

You can see my Eddie Bauer Michelin man coat on the left
and a small peek at my Petrusse scarf from My Stylish French Box on the right.

Fabulous fitting Yoga pants were found as well as the top
both made by the company 90 Degree.
I wore them today on my walk.

Doubling up on pearls...maybe a fashion faux pas...like The Canadian Tuxedo
aka double denim!

Speaking of My Stylish French Box
I use and love all the things that I have received over the years...
if you follow me on Instagram you will notice that I occassionally
post pictures of what I use from the boxes.

The Petrusse scarf is one I wear throughout the cool weather...
it is made of soft wool which is warm and cozy on the neck.

The boxes are a real splurge and there is an element of surprise.

Speaking of surprises...

Sharon Santoni and her team are hiding a Golden Key in one of the boxes and if you find that key in your box you will receive a generous and luxurious gift
from one of the partners that supply goods for the boxes.

If you want to learn more click the link here and see for yourself.

Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Dreams and Women...

Have you travelled to France?

If not, are you dreaming of a trip?

Can you visualize yourself walking along the Seine,
or sitting outside a cafe sipping a cafe creme?

Wandering along the cobblestones streets...
lighting a candle in a church
perusing the shops.

Travelling was personal dream of mine for years.

I read numerous books on Paris and France...
they whet my appetite and I thought it may be possible
"where there is a will there is a way"
so I took French language classes,
saved money
then the year I turned 60 I went...
It was the trip of a lifetime.

Keeping the feeling of France alive...
I continue reading books set in France,
saving money and am dreaming again of French countryside and Paris.

Today on International Women's Day...we honour women.

Sharon Santoni is a great example of an industrious, creative, and energetic woman.
Sharon continues to reinvent and challenge herself,
she is an inspiration for those of us who have yet to fulfill all their dreams.

My Stylish French Box was created by Sharon...
You may be familiar with her beautiful books or the lovely blog she writes
about her life in the countryside surrounding her gorgeous home in Normandy.

Recently she also launched her online magazine...

The February box theme was The Parisian woman...

The velvet pouchette features a photo taken in Paris by Sharon.

The beret is made of soft thick wool...
the red lip gloss is ultra moisturizing and perfect for everyday wear.

I love the wee pop of red atop the beret.

Some quotes to ponder and inspire on International Women's Day.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

~ Eleanor Roosevelt ~

"The education and empowerment of women throughout the world
cannot fail to result in a more caring, tolerant,
just and peaceful life for all."

~ Aung San Suu Kyi ~

"There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish."

                                              ~ Michelle Obama ~

"I think the best role models for women are people who are fruitfully and                 confidently themselves, who bring light into the world."

                                                  ~ Meryl Streep ~

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Beauty in Gardens and My Stylish French Box...a treat from France

I walked in one of my favourite spots last week...
Abkhazi Gardens.

The temperatures were mild, the skies blue, and the sun was shining.
It felt like a gift after a few days of rain.

A lovely display of naturalized Crocus flowers popping up from the soil...
or is it croci ?

Love the way that the light illuminated their petals.

Gnarly trunk and twisted branches above a bed of snowdrops and cyclamen.

This is such a sweet structure on the site...
it was a place where the original owners would take tea and eat their picnic lunches when they were first designing the gardens.

I've been dreaming a lot about garden design
the beautiful spaces that people have been able over the years to cultivate.
A well designed garden, once established, is a living legacy.

I try to visit many of the local gardens and join in on the various garden tours.
Some of my favourite things to do are to peruse the garden centres
 leaf through gardening books
and
watch TV shows on gardens.

Are you familiar with Sharon Santoni?
Her garden in France is stunning.
She is the founder of My Stylish French Box...
I have subscribed to these boxes and they are a real treat to receive...
the current box theme is focused on a Parisianne woman.
One of the partners is the renowned perfume company of Annick Goutal!

The February Box is almost sold out
you might be able to order one if you are quick!

Go here to get more information and good luck!

I am excited as Sharon has just launched a new digital magazine.
She has a giveaway on her Instagram page.

As I sit here at the table in my Humble Bungalow Kitchen
I can hear birds outside singing
the clock chiming
the fridge humming
the keys on my lap top
tap tapping
a rumbling motorcycle speeds by
the neighbours dog barks

taking time to stop and notice the little things
those moments each day that can easily slip by if one is not present

Hope that your week is ticking along nicely!

Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow.
