Styling my new shirt...

The recent purchase of the Tencel Cloth and Stone shirt is a bit of a splurge and was not on my "need list."
I didn't know that I'd buy it, but I knew I liked how it looked on the hanger.
It was not until I tried it on...the soft worn in feel of the fabric and the fit totally won me over.

I can already see a variety of ways to wear and style it.

Shown here as a layering piece over the Linen Eileen Fisher top.
Imagine this paired with skinny white jeans or Linen capri's for summer.

I can see it buttoned up and tucked into jeans.
I'd also wear it as a swimsuit cover up.

I like it with pearls and labradorite beads.

The JCrew Venus fly trap necklace kicks it up a notch.

I could layer it over a jersey dress...
and this is just the beginning!
I plan to have fun styling this newbie.

It's kind of funny how we can be so energized and enthusiastic about something new and unexpected.
It feels as if my creative juices were lying dormant just waiting.

Similar to the feeling I get when I am in front of a blank canvas and the brush is in my hand.

What have you bought to wear that has felt like a game changer?

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

I have really enjoyed my new booties that I bought this fall ~ they seem to go with everything. Your shirt is great.

did you paint that? that is really nice. you should do a little show if you got enough for a collection. I have a pair of leopard print shoes that I am trying to see what I can pair with...

Such a great shirt, Leslie. I saw a darling denim tee shirt on Pinterest the other day and was certain it belonged in my closet. But sadly it has already sold out. You're smart to have grabbed this while you could.
A game changer for me has been hats. I wear them frequently these days now that I have found some at a local hat shop that suit me.
Love the painting. It's quite beautiful!

Lovely variations; they are inspiring!

My game-changer was a classic blue denim jeans jacket! Never to be worn with jeans (much too cowgirl-like), but with skirts of all colors including prints, and outfits in head-to-toe red or black.

The necklace is on sale at J Crew today! I just bought one.

I love the shirt Leslie! And, I know you are going to enjoy it.

Great ideas from one of your readers about denim jackets. I have one and should wear it more!

My game changer this fall/winter has been a wool coat I purchased which is reversible. I think it is called double faced wool. One one side it is a black and white tweed. On the other side, it is a black and white plaid. It's has interesting seaming and garners comments and compliments. It makes running errands around town a bit more fun as it makes me feel somewhat chic.

I have a pair of suede teal coloured Peter Kaiser shoes that I bought at Lord's last year. Even my daughter's guy friend remarked on them. I build them into as many outfits as possible. Your
shirt can be worn for many occasions and will fit into your black and white wardrobe.

My rule is (almost) whenever you put something on that makes you smile and feel like a million bucks, buy it! (I'll admit that I did not buy the $800 Burberry trench coat that followed this rule.)

This looks like a good staple but let's not try to justify it, just enjoy it! Oh, and remember to wear it and not "save" it. My trouble is that I get things I love and then save them for something special only to find that they no longer fit, or have gotten spotted, or are out of style. Enjoy.

In the past I have done several posts showing my paintings...if you scroll down on the sidebar to tags and click "painting" and you can see the posts of the pictures that I have painted.

I envy your ability to wear hats...I have a men's felt hat that is classic but I feel a bit odd wearing it out in public.

I hope that you have fun wearing it!

My daughter would call it "double denim" and say that the Fashion Police are on their way to cite me...the magazines are showing DD these days! I can hear the sirens now!

Oooh that does sound like a keeper. Where did you find it and can you send us a link so we can all see it?

I love seude shoes but have been afraid to wear them except for spring and summer when it is not raining. I have a red pair of seude Geox loafers...it is fun to have a bright shoe and your teal pair must really pop and add a punch of colour. Perfect for these grey days that we are experiencing.

I know what you mean! A Burberry trench is an investment piece and one that is worth saving up to buy if it looks great and makes you feel like a million bucks. You would have it for years to come....
I have a Burberry quilted jacket that I bought years ago ~ pre weight gain and kept it even when I was too large to do up the buttons...good thing too because I can now wear it again.
I try to keep my wardrobe on the smaller size these days so I do wear my "good" garments more often. Like using silver instead of stainless it elevates our appreciation for the little things in our daily round.

Hi Kerrie, welcome and thank you for introducing me to your blog. I am following you too! I paint roses and see that you paint too. I love the sea and shabby dreamy whites although I live in a dark wood panelled bungalow I embrace the imperfect
